The Magical Landscape of the Garden of the Gods, Lanai, Hawaii

Garden of the Gods, Lanai Far

Before visiting the Garden of the Gods, Lanai, Hawaii, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect.  Even after looking at photos, I was still quite confused.  Each shot looked quite different, and what they did have in common with the subjects seemed to very with the color, shape and location.  All I understood was that there were round rocks, and there was orange dirt.

But I said to myself, if we just end up seeing rocks and dirt, so be it.

And I’m so glad I did, because those uncapturable round rocks and flecks of orange dirt created a location that was unlike any other place I’ve ever been. Continue reading …

Five of the Best Waterfall Hikes on Oahu

Waterfall Hikes on Oahu Waimano Falls

If you’ve been keeping up with “Borders & Bucket Lists” for a bit, you’ll know that I absolutely love waterfalls. On Oahu, we don’t have the pull-up-and-take-a-picture waterfalls that many of the other Hawaiian Islands do. No, you have to go on a bit of a hike to reach any of our waterfalls on the island.  That said, the waterfall hikes on Oahu are definitely worth a little bit of extra exercise.

The Ultimate Guide to the Ko Olina Lagoons, Hawaii

The Ko Olina Lagoons Secret

I grew up going to the Ko Olina Lagoons nearly every single week.  That was our family’s go-to beach.  I remember when there were just the lagoons, the Ihilani (which is now the Four Seasons), two (instead of three) buildings of the Marriott, and the Fairways. That’s it.  No other hotels, no other town houses, and no shops at all. It was a little secluded paradise.

But now, the Ko Olina Lagoons on the West side of Oahu, Hawaii are growing to be the second-largest tourist destination on the island, just after Waikiki.  And that’s not necessarily a bad thing.  It’s just a little different than it was before.  But my 20+ years of experience at the Ko Olina Lagoons prove that I know the area better than nearly anyone else.  To give you a better idea of where to stay, relax, have some fun, eat, and have a wedding, I’ve created this ultimate guide to the Ko Olina Lagoons in Hawaii. Where to Get the Best Malasadas on Oahu, Hawaii

Where to get the best malasadas on Oahu Pipeline Bakeshop & Creamery
If you’ve been following my blog for a little while, you’ve probably noticed that I’m a bit of a foodie.  I mean, I created a two-part Hawaii food bucket list (here’s part 1 and part 2).  I go around the island of Oahu trying to find the best of the best.  Sometimes I end up trying some pretty bad dishes (when I wrote this post on where to get the best poke bowls on Oahu, I tried some truly terrible poke before finding these four).  I’m not going to lie, I had to try some awful malasadas for this post as well.  But my taste buds suffered so yours didn’t have to.  Here’s where to get the best malasadas on Oahu, Hawaii.
